Each journal entry begins with a poem selected from Wild Reckoning, an anthology provoked by Rachel Carson's Silent Spring, edited by John Burnside and Maurice Riordan.
The poem is followed by a short summary of the poem and comments on form and sound and how they converge to convey meaning.
I then selected a poem from a different text and provided a comparison to the first poem based on one shared quality (such as subject, imagery, tone or form).
Finally, I offer an attempt at my own poetic expression that in some way was inspired by the featured poems.
